Ray Danniels
Ray Danniels is a legendary Canadian music executive, record producer, and talent manager whose strategic
foresight has shaped rock and popular music for over five decades. He founded S.R.O. (Standing Room Only)
Management and independent labels Moon Records and Anthem Records, initially to support the then-obscure
band Rush, whom he began managing in the early 1970s. Under his guidance, Rush rose to global acclaim, and
his influence expanded to managing major acts such as Max Webster, Kim Mitchell, Extreme, King’s X, and Van
Halen.
Danniels’s impact earned him the prestigious Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 2015 Juno Awards
and induction into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 2007. With an unwavering commitment to artist
development, pioneering label-building, and transformative management, his work continues to resonate as a
forward-thinking blueprint for elevating both musicians and the music industry itself.
